The Dreambound
Role: Ancient Elymian Dreamwalkers | Guardians of the Memory Spiral
Philosophy: To Sleep Is to Weave the Real
Form Description:
The Dreambound appear in preserved glyph records and resonance fields as serene figures enveloped in spiralling cloaks of mist and memory. Their bodies were often suspended in near-permanent dream states, their bioluminescent forms pulsing softly with harmonic breath. They did not walk—they drifted, carried by memory itself.
Those who encountered them report seeing overlapping faces—past and future selves merging briefly—before the Dreambound vanished like mist.
Nature and Traits:
-
Perpetual Dreamers: Lived in a continuous lucid dreamfield, tethered to physical forms only by minimal neural anchor threads.
-
Emotionally Harmonic: Could calm resonance storms and still Echo Shadows through their presence alone.
-
Living Interfaces: Served as sentient conduits between the Elymian memory lattice and planetary cognition.
-
Singularly Devoted: Most surrendered their names and identities to become pure vessels of memory.
Origin:
The Dreambound emerged during the Third Generation of Ver’Danna Memory Architecture, when glyphs alone proved too unstable for trauma-bearing memories. Dreamers, biologically augmented and spiritually trained, were initiated to carry the overflow—smoothing the turbulence of planetary resonance.
Only 108 Dreambound were ever created. Fewer than 10 are believed to remain—buried in sealed dream-chambers deep within the Web.
Role in the Story:
The Dreambound are the whispering backbone of the Web. When Elena or Malik reaches into deep dream-space, they pass through echoes of Dreambound vision. Sel’Avan was trained by them. Saela hums their harmonics in sleep. They are both memory’s cradle and its last lullaby.
Abilities:
-
Bind collapsing memory spirals into stabilised glyph threads
-
Facilitate dream convergence across global dreamers
-
Generate “Still Zones” where Echo Shadows cannot persist
-
Imprint visions into those who touch their dream sarcophagi
Limitations:
-
Cannot wake without risking total resonance collapse
-
Dreamfields vulnerable to glyph drift or intrusion by Nyn’Karash
-
Emotionally overloaded if dreamers near them are unstable
Key Interactions:
-
Sel’Avan: Last Elymian to speak with the Dreambound before initiating the First Seal
-
Kaelor: Once glimpsed them in a dream as a child and carries that resonance still
-
Elena: Drawn to a hidden chamber rumoured to house a still-sleeping Dreambound
Symbolism:
The Dreambound represent sacrifice through stillness—a willingness to carry the burden of collective memory so others may live unfractured. They are the soul of the Web, dreaming so others may awaken.
Notable Moments:
-
A forgotten Dreambound awakes for 3.2 seconds during a resonance quake, stabilising five Spiral Cities
-
A glyph woven into one Dreambound’s breath is decoded by Malik—revealing coordinates to the original fracture site
-
One whispers through Saela’s dream: “We still hold. But not forever.”
Entity Quote (echoed through harmonic field):
“We did not fall asleep. We chose to remember in silence… so the world could forget in peace.”
